What a concoction. The story is pretty darn simple. Before he actually went to Iraq to physcially look for himself, he believed what the erroneous intelligence reports were saying. Once he got there and saw for himself that these claims were utter hogwash, he changed his tune. Nothing mythical or magical about it.

Ed, you are in denial. George Bush claimed that there were hundreds of tons of chemical and biological weapons in Iraq. He claimed that this represented a threat to the American people. Turns out he was wrong and Saddam Hussein had actually destroyed most of his WMD arsenal by 1998. Deal with it.
