There are a couple of reasons why I want to go to Linux. The first is that it's not MS, and I suspect competition would be good for the OS world.
Second, the long version. I have remodelled my 4 bedroom house into an over-and-under duplex, as I planned when I built the place. With three daughters, I knew we'd never get rid of all of 'em, and it just seemed reasonable to have the option. I know live in the smaller, daylight basement place and rent the larger upstairs.
I've upgraded the DSL to really fast, and the upstairs people use it too on a wireless basis. I'm gone a lot, and I think I need to have my computer on all the time for them. I'd like to find an OS which doesn't crash easily. Then I could enable the modem on that disk when I leave town, and be reasonably assured it would run for a week or so.
And I may buy one of the inexpensive eMachines with Linux and use it as a server, let it run forever, and go wireless myself.
Thanks for the responses.
