I'm not shy about talking about my hobby of studying human behavior in cyberspace, and I worry that sometimes it gets a bit tedious for people who don't share that interest. It's good to hear it worked this time.
The blogosphere is still young, so any observations I might make are about a snapshot in time. It'll be a different place in a year. We're looking at it now during an unusual period, an election year, which is fertile ground for the kind of information and interaction the 'sphere is good at. It might be fair to say that this is the year that blogs have come of age.
I read the new branch you started up top with interest. I followed a couple of links, notably Larry's memorandum, and realized that I'm not actually as familiar with the blogosphere as I should be. When I think about it, much of my experience is based on following links you provide. No wonder I think of it as overwhelmingly right-wing! It was a novelty at memorandum to read a blog without a visible-to-in-your-face right-wing bias. I'm cautious about jumping to conclusions and calling a blog recommended by Larry liberal, but damn, at least it wasn't pro-Bush-24x7.
Speaking of bias, the "Marketing Myopia" piece was an interesting bit of partisan myopia. The author clearly thought that he was being objective and the soul of reason, yet it reeked of bias. Imagine describing Rush Limbaugh as a fount of information! More generally, I can only shake my head when I observe the way people of each main political persuasion look at the media and come to exactly the opposite conclusion about where the bias lies. It's just a key-and-socket thing: Most people judge the quality of information solely based on how well it fits into their preconceived notions and worldview. That's all it means, I'm tellin ya!
BTW, congratulations on a great thread. It's an Arnie: Heavy on the beef.
