As I mentioned to Tom a deferment is a postponement. Big deal. Kerry could have also simple went the routes of Cheney, Bush or Clinton, but didn't.

Something this whole medals thing is bring home is Republicans and their fellow travelers don't really respect the Military and really want us to question all medals given out during Vietnam. It's pretty clear Elliott for one was very cavalier about commendations and recommending people for medals. Maybe non of the medals given out during Nam are deserved?
