but I am reminded of the old saw that nothing can protect a person from assassination if the assassin is determined and doesn't mind dying.

If they couldn't do it in NYC or Washington they could do it in Peoria with equal terror and less effort. All it takes is one guy in a crowded mall. The DC sniper showed what one or two can do and you have to wonder why they are not doing it.

Maybe they think that a massive attack would destroy our economy and bring us down with one shot. They may be holding out for nothing less than that.

I do think that Bush is doing a lot of things right and the main thing is making them wonder what the martyrs will leave behind them. The suicide bombers and particularly the leaders that stay behind are concerned about how far they can push us and what our reaction will be.

There is a point at which the holy places start disappearing and they don't know what that point is.
