The source of much merriment
When Pillinger was earlier selling his now augered-in Beagle-2, he made a big point about how he was going to do things better than NASA, e.g. through his superior engineering technique, his vehicle would get to Mars at one tenth the cost. Now he's suggesting that MSL piggy back his vehicle to Mars and then go around collecting samples for it. One can image 5,000 engineers at JPL simultaneously dropping their pants and showing "Big A" to Pillinger as their collective response. Pillinger definitely has chutzpah but not much else.
