Quick Question

Why on earth would a potential employer 'Google' someone's name? I do not doubt you; it just doesn't make any sense to me. I can't see how an employer could possibly base their hiring decisions on which page a name show's up on a Internet search engine. I work for a Telecommunications company that hire's some of the top engineers in the world and I've never seen or heard of anything like that.
