Compare the solar activity, global temperature, and the sea ice cover in summer for the last 30-odd years. You can't blame this on the sun. BTW, we do know the solar flux, and its variation, to a high degree of precision: approximately 1.37 kW/m**2 at 1 AU, at the top of the atmosphere.
