The Willie Horton concept was first used by Al Gore against Dukakis in the primaries.
One of the main points of my original post was the obscenely ridiculous idea that somehow Democrats don't engage in dirty politics unless "forced" to. Good God, where has she been for the last forty years?
The vast majority of Kerry supporters, particularly in the primaries, listed as their prime reason "that Kerry can beat Bush." This is not true of Bush voters. The destruction of George W. Bush seems to be all that occupies the Democratic leadership right now, so it's not surprising that they've been falling down on other issues. A massive negative is not going to win an election, one of a large number of reasons I went out on a limb and predicted a major Bush win, even before the Democratic convention.

- Who the hell is she? And does she speak for the Dems?
- You make the positive assertion, prove it. Prove Bush has not shown any character once in his life. Then move on the rest of the VRWC you slime.
- Who the hell is she?
- If Dukakis had had a Karl Rove, Rove would never have gotten away with the Willie Horton campaign.
