Bin Laden could be arrested at any time: senior US official
Islamabad, Sep 4 (UNI) Terrorist mastermind and al-Qaeda head Osama bin Laden and his other top associates could be arrested anytime, as the recent spate of Al Qaeda arrests in Pakistan have provided significant clues, a senior US official has claimed.

''Everything is in place and a little bit is needed to localise these people and catch them,'' the US State Department's coordinator on counter-terrorism J Cofer Black said yesterday during a briefing for selected senior journalists at the American Information Centre here. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for International Crime at the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement, Steven Patrick Schrage was also present.

''In counter-terrorism, the programmes are in place. We are after these guys globally. Success against people that you know about, Osama could happen tomorrow, could happen the day after, a week from now, or month from now,'' Mr Black, who has the rank of an Ambassador-at-large, said.

''I tell the people and the media in the US that I would be surprised but not shocked that Osama and all his lieutenants have been caught and that these guys were in jail. It will be a good day for the people of this world in terms of counter-terrorism,'' he said.
