I'm surprised at you, Tom

If you consider quantity of words, like quantity of money, to be a sign of achievement and the natural birthright of every free man, then what you're proposing is sort of like the graduated income tax: It penalizes those with more to give those with less more opportunity.

Wow, it's like you're a billionaire coming out in favor of higher taxes for the wealthy!

Seriously, the way that the software works subtly influences the nature of the community produced by people who use the software. As long as we're turning stereotypes on their heads, I'm reluctant to engage in social engineering by adding that sort of "governor" on the conversations. Or, to riff on Tony's suggestion that you're looking for externally-imposed discipline, that would be like term limits, which I don't like either. For all that you get teased about the quantity of your posts, I don't think anybody would approve of my doing something to the software to limit your output. I wouldn't feel right about it myself.

For better or worse, the HabitableZone is the (mostly) unfettered product of the people who post here.
