Let's see what has what wolfowitz says about rescuing Iraqi's got to do with American security? That tangent definitely resembles the postings of others known for their loose connection of facts. On the one hand you guys claim Bush started the war only over WMD yet when that is the issue at hand you switch to a topic you usually pretend was not used to justify the war prior to it.
But on your chosen tangent I'd like to add: I agree that in general rescuing an oppressed people has not been sufficient to start a war. However we have done it as in the case of Yugoslavia or France. In this case we encouraged the Kurds and Shia to rebel after GW1 and I think it is criminal we let them sink without help. I have felt we owed them help ever since. I felt very strongly going in that this war was justified as unfinished business from GW1 that needed finishing. I would not have pulled the focus off Afghanistan if we knew then what we know now, but would have liked to see us take out Saddam even without the immediate threat of WMD after Afghanistan was stabilized because Saddam's actions indicate his lack of them would last only as long as effective sanctions and inspections were in place. Anyone who was paying attention knows France and Russia were undermining both.

Mark
