Terrorists attacked the Marines in Beruit in the 1980s, killing over 200 of them. They also attacked our embassy there. We did nothing.
Terrorists attacked the World Trade Center in 1993, killing 6 people. We prosecuted those we caught, but did virtually nothing about those that made the attack possible.
They also killed almost 20 soldiers in Somalia in 1993. We retreated.
Terrorists attacked US military barracks in Saudi Arabia. We did nothing.
Terrorists attacked two US embassies in Africa, killing over 200 people. We fired some cruise missiles into empty camps, effectively doing nothing.
Terrorists attacked the USS Cole, killing 17 sailors. We did nothing.
In the meantime, thousands of people went through those al Queda training camps during the 1990s. We did nothing.
It'd be foolish to think it'll go away if we ignore it again. Kerry has promised to respond if we're attacked. He talks in legalisms, as if the goal is to arrest terrorists after the fact rather than trying to stop them before the fact. It's an absurdity, like when Fritz Hollings reported stated that we should post signs in airports threatening to prosecute terrorists to the fullest extent of the law, as if that would stop them.
The Germans had a word that describes this mindset that can't handle reality, "Cloud Coo-Coo Land."
