More anecdotal evidence from a somewhat swing state. Or two.

Anecdotally, I've heard a several Republicans say they've never voted for a Democratic Presidential candidate, but they might have to now.

I have taken the same sort of informal notice as you of lawn signs. In the 5 mile area around my house in northwest Oregon I haven't noticed a single Bush sign, have seen between 50 and 75 Kerry signs. And in all my travels around here I've noticed only 1 Bush lawn sign, on a $1.5 house in an upscale neighborhood.

In rural Washington last week there were many, many Bush banners on the sides of buildings and along the road. Very few smaller signs, which led me to surmise the land- and business-owners were the active ones. No Kerry signs, a few Bush bumper stickers, a few Kerry bumper stickers.

At any rate, while I don't think these don't necessarily reflect the election results, they do demonstrate the relative energy of the supporters.
