Took a quick look at the PDF versions at CBS News, and they are pretty suspicious. So suspiciously inept that I find myself wondering if they weren't actually planted by the Bush campaign to embarrass Kerry. Occam's Razor: 1) It's beyond belief that any political professional would be that stupid, and there are plenty of people in the world capable of better forgery; 2) Karl Rove's reputation as ruthlessly Machiavellian lends credibility to the notion that he could come up with something so devious.
Besides, who has anything to gain keeping alive this silly controversy over military records from three decades ago? Who benefits from crowding out discussion of the real issues facing America? Who doesn't want to talk about crushing deficits, a flaccid economy, job loss, dishonest intelligence, an unecessary war and a disastrous aftermath, secret energy policies, loss of civil liberties, and just about every "achievement" of the Bush Administration?
