If you leave race out of it entirely, what is happening there is pretty much what happened in every Marxist nation back to the beginning. Redistribution of land, collapse of production, rewarding cronies, the development of a nomenclatura at the expense of the other citizens, and a complete butt-ignorance about how economics actually works.
Much of these situations, like reliance on "traditional" medicines, are the same in countries like Cuba.
One of the things that proves my point about the failures of Marxism and full-bore socialism is that the failures are consistent across the board, in many different nations with different races, different cultures, and different languages.
What nails it down even tighter is that there have been several situations where nearly identical cultures and nations have been split, and one takes the Marxist road while the other goes capitalist. The results are glaringly obvious.
