What's happening in Zimbabwe is an example of unreformed communists gaining political control. There is no mystery here.

There are more checks-and-balances in South Africa than in Zimbabwe. Unfortunately South Africa is still a sinking ship due to demographics, disease, capital flight, brain drain and resource depletion. Most of my in-laws have fled South Africa. Only my parents-in-law remain there because they're too elderly to flee. My mother-in-law's family have been in South Africa for over a century. Some Afrikaaner families have been in South Africa for over 300 years. They are bound to the soil and have no where else to go.
