I don't like the shoot-em-ups.
I like to sit and take notes, and integrate data to solve puzzles that are consistent with the world of the game. Played "Seventh Guest" once. Took place in a haunted house, and the puzzles were the kind you'd find in a brain-teaser book, simply transplanted into the game. Not that much fun.
The Myst Series has excelled at this. Needed a few hints for Myst I (the original Hypercard-driven game), but I beat both Riven and Myst III with no hints at all. Took a while, though. Haven't had time for Uru.
