Novak is the guy who floated the "get out quick" idea for Bush. And that is patently a hook upon which moverate Rs can hang their hat.

This way they can hope for sanity, while Bush could deny it if ever asked.

As far as a draft is concerned, if he is to pursue this course it will take a draft. The numbers just don't make it. Folks are dying over in Iraq because he and Rumsfeld have sent over too few for the mission.

And, he's clearly afraid to send more. Doesn't want this quagmire compared to other quagmires.

So, the lives of good Americans are being sacrificed to, well, to what? Bush's political image, I guess.
