So, what is the current liberal story as far as Saddam and WMD is concerned?

The main premise of the anti-war faction has been that if we had left Saddam and his lunatic sons alone under the watchful eye of the United Nations (see also Iran) for the next few decades that we would all have been safe in our beds forever. Has this changed?
