In our modern educational system, if a student doesn't leave the school, head hanging, convinced that America is the worst, most corrupt piece of offal ever to contaminate the surface of the planet, the faculty hasn't done their job. And God help you if you're white.

Historical "reconstruction" is a big part of this. After all, if Jefferson had slaves, then everything he had to say about freedom, individual rights, and other quaint concepts doesn't really mean anything, does it?
