re: can't find any stories discussing McAulliff's remarks

Mostly watered down versions of the red meat he was throwing out.

I'm really suprised. Its a big acusation to make from somebody who is pretty far up in the Democratic Party: He's basicly accusing Bush of having a key role in allowing the Murder of 3,000 Americans.

Anywho... Here's one link that describes the nature of the crowd that McAulliff was addressing:

Protestors Attack Cheney

Text of Story:

"Hey hey, ho ho, George Bush has got to go." Protestors chanted as as they march to the Dubuque County Courthouse. They're united by one common goal, they want change in the White House. Protestor Ron Dunne says, "The present administration has mislead the American people and entered into an invasion and occupation of a nation that had nothing to do with the attacks on the United States three years ago."

Dozens of Kerry supporters came to the Town Clock Plaza to protest Vice-President Dick Cheney's visit on Tuesday. Shirley Schroeder also came out to protest. She says, "We're sick and tired of Cheney and Bush and we're fed up their lies and its time to change." Protestor Greg Simpson says, "He represents the worst of the Bush administration and Republican crony-ism. Sending average, common American young boys and girls over to Iraq to fight and die while they sit back and profit by billions and billions of dollars."

Terry McAuliffe, the Chair for the Democratic National Committee, led the rally, which ended before Cheney even arrived in Dubuque. Some of the protestors then made their way to the Grand River Center to get their message across to Vice-President Cheney and his supporters. Many of these them say their mad Cheney's visit is an invitation only event. McAuliffe says, "They're not going to let people in to ask real questions about job creation, healthcare. They're not going to let them talk about education or Iraq."

When asked about Senator Kerry's dip in the latest polls, McAuliffe says he's not worried. "One poll counts, that's November 2nd and I guarantee you, John Kerry and John Edwards will be elected President and Vice-President of this country."

After marching to the Dubuque County Courthouse, many of the protestors turned in their absentee ballots for the November election.
