Think about it. If someone with a YAG blinds both pilots of a commercial jetliner, how many planes you think would have a pilot on board rated to land the thing safely? This has been going on for a while. Four or so years ago I saw a coloquium where they were trying to develop non-linear materials to turn opaque at high intensity. Part of the application was for pilots to wear.
