No, unfortunately. I very much want to though.
I used to live in Longview (ya, right by St. Helens!), and have gone swimming in the Sound several times, but that was before I was certified. I remember seeing TONS of sea anenomes, jellyfish, and other stuff - things that I haven't seen too many of where I have gone diving already (Guam, California, Persian Gulf), so it would be really cool to see some new stuff. Some of those anenomes get to be HUGE!!!
The conditions in the Sound sound pretty similar to what you'd get on an average day in Monterey- 45 degrees and 20 to 30 foot vis. You know, so cold that when you get out after a 45 minute dive, the exposed part of your face is blue!
It seems like there'd be a lot of wreck dives in the Sound, ya? I wonder if the Tacoma Narrows was fully recovered after it collapsed, or if there's wreckage left, forming an artifical reef... (That reminds me, my current favorite show is "Deep Sea Detectives", that guy gets ALL the cool wreck dives!)
I think it'd be fun to go diving at my old salmon fishing site on the Columbia to see how much tackle I can recover... that stuff is expensive...
