To "turn off" temp internet files

You are correct that they can't be entirely turned off; however, you can automaticaly delete them every time you close internet Explorer.

Click on Tools/Internet Options and then go to the "Advanced" tab...then scroll down and check the box labeld "Empty temporary internet folders when browser is closed".

That way everytime you log off, your temp files will be deleted...(Note: This won't delete your cookies...I think you must do that manually.)

Another good tip is to check mark the box titled "Do not save encrypted pages to disk". If you have supplied any personal info on an encrypted page, that data can still be accessed by anyone who can access your hard drive.
