Wonder who he wanted to believe he had 'em so as to deter. The US was continually attacking Iraq using the "no-fly" zone as an excuse, but WMDs aren't much good against planes.
And an interesting but forgotten fact is that Hussein DID have WMDs during the First Gulf War, and DIDN'T use them.
Why would he have all at once started using them? He'd have known it would be suicide.
However, he did get rid of them, complying with the resolution, and still GWB invaded.
