The "perception" you talk about is based more on politics than on any rational analysis of internet traffic. intelligence, or anything else. A lot of the latter new input is because we're finally paying attention to things that have been going on for years behind our backs. Remember, on 9/11 we had zero troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. How safe were we then?
