Hey JMS - Cool aerial photo/topographical software

I think JMS and I had a discussion a while back about aerial photos. I can't find the link, but I'm fairly certain it was him.

Anyway I found this really great software that compiles aerial photos off of Microsft's terraserver website and Topo maps from the USGS site.

Its free software call USAPhotomaps. You can download it from the author here: http://jdmcox.com/

It is a little clunky until you figure out how it works. Basically you enter in you lattitude and longitude, then your scale settings, then choose topo or photo. After that press F for fill and it will fill in your screen with all the relative photos. then you can pan around using the arrow keys and hit F again to fill in the rest.

The only thing I wish it would do is overlay the TOpo over the aerial photo. That would be cool, but since its free I shouldn't gripe.

PS you'd better have broadband to use this software, I shutter to think how slow it would be over dial up. Also an easy place to get the lattiude/longitude is Topozone.com.
