Will Los Angeles vote for John Kerry and thus wait to be attacked be fore responding? I know if I lived in a large American city like LA, Chicago, San Francisco, New York...I'd vote for Bush even if I was telling my social circles that I planned on voting for Kerry. Otherwise, I might be nominated for a Darwin award.
So, under your logic, it would make sense to me that the Egyptian's words were an inducement to vote for George Bush. Hmm, wonder if the guy thought about that before he uttered them? I mean the guy couldn't be so clueless to not know that any kind of terror and fear inducement from a threat like this at this stage of the political process seems to help out our current president. So what does this say? Basically it says what I've been alluding to all along. George Bush and his policies play right into the hands of terrorists and they're pleased as punch to keep him in office.
Here's my prediction: There'll be no strike on America prior to or on the day of the election, only rhetoric which promotes the fear of one. It's simply not necessary and there's too much uncertainty as to how an actual strike will change the results at the polls. In many ways the strike itself relieves the fear for the people that aren't directly affected. I liken it to my own experience in flying in commercial airliners. There's much more apprehension in flying if it's been a long time since an airline disaster. I much prefer flying a week after a particularly heinous airplane crash. Now the logical part of my brain tells me that statistically I'm just as much at risk regardless of how recent the crash was but there's this little voice inside me that says that my experience has shown that crashes rarely happen one right after another. It's that same stupid voice that tells us that we can go to Vegas and somehow come out winners despite the obvious profits exhibited by the huge gilded palaces we're entering.
Yep, no terrorist strike through election day. Now the odds, in my mind, change drastically the day after the election or after inauguration day no matter who the winner is. Neither of the two have any chances (other than blind luck) of stopping it and a strike then pits the citizens against the President.
