"Common ground."

I'll have to add that to my long list of terms that actually mean "do what we want."

I've covered many complicated issues related to gun violence, but it's become obvious that only one solution will be acceptable, or perhaps even perceived.

A lot of groups are divisive. The Occupy and Tea Party movements are divisive. The civil rights movement was divisive. The Vietnam anti-war movement was divisive. The goddam Revolutionary and Civil Wars were divisive.

There is nothing wrong with division in a nation of individuals, unless the premise is that only one side needs to or should exist on an issue.

A premise that, in my opinion, is becoming frighteningly common.

I should list the posts and comments here that boil down to "who will rid us of this troublesome opposition?" Not just guns either. What exactly would be involved in "taking the NRA out of the equation?"
