Flame » in reply to The question : Wanna tell me what this blue-stater doesn't get?

My post, reworded:

It was supposed to be a coup by the Left showing Bush at his worst. But the Right fell in love with it immediately, and somebody incorporated it into this film. Blue State people don't get this at all, any more than the British understood why the colonists adopted "Yankee Doodle" for their own.

*Not all Blue State people, but some. Ideally, the phrase should be "SOME Blue State people." I don't know exactly what percentage. Surveys are still under way, undertaken at my own expense. And "Blue State" refers here to a political and cultural viewpoint, not an actual physical location in a state that has been traditionally labeled a "Blue State." Obviously, I live in a "Blue State," but am not a "Blue State" person.

This "Blue State" category is, of course, a generalization, with wide variation in actual political viewpoints, and may or may not include some of the people posting on this board. Tony, for example, is highly perceptive and certainly fully understands why conservatives might find Bush's attitude appealing, and not the negative that the people who spread the film around thought it was.**

It is obvious that if at least some "Blue State" (as defined above) people were not clueless about this, the film clip of Bush flipping a bird, which was incorporated into the longer film piece I linked to, would not have been spread around leftist websites in the first place.

Please pretend that the preceding has been read very rapidly, like the legal caveats at the end of radio commercials.

**Tony will also fully understand exactly why Kerry is going to get his political ass blown off today, and not need it explained.
