No. Maybe you can defend the Democratic opposition to preventing illegal voting.
The point is that the Democrats have dragged their feet on every single reasonable approach to make sure that voters are legal. I can think of no exceptions off the top of my head, but go back over various articles on tightening requirements for identification, or registration, or anything else, and see who does all the screaming.
In each case, the Democrats submit that somehow, any means of identifying a voter will impact mostly on minorities. Maybe. The data doesn't hold up very well.
All I know is that I tend to be suspicious when somebody complains a lot about the installation of a burglar alarm, or putting locks on the supply cabinets.
