It's a tough one, giving up something you love to the never reaches of where they go after their life is gone.
A couple of years ago, a sweet feline of mine was rushing across the road to greet me when my neighbour hit him with her car. He managed to run to his favorite spot, and while his injuries swelled his brain and tongue, he looked at me with desperation. I remember putting my hands firmly on him and kept telling him I loved him. I felt the last shudder of his breath under my hands while he looked into my eyes.
I felt it was a compassionate thing and I was glad I made his exit as comfortable as I could, but losing a beloved pet is a tragic and heart-rending experience. My thoughts are with you in this time of grief.
Remember her for the joy she gave to you and your family.
