But for the next 4 years at least, the ones who would like to pull off such an attack will be very hard pressed to do it.
Bush's tax cuts will stay in place. Rhenquist will retire and Clarance Thomas will be the new Chief Justice of the SC.
I don't think the overall make-up of the court will change much. If anything, it might moderate slightly with Rhenquist's retirement. The Democrats will act like spoiled children anyway and attempt to block most if not all of Bush's court appointments because of their "abortion litmus test".
The Dean wing of the Democratic party will continue to try to push the party further left but they will be counter-balanced by the Clinton wing that refuses to go away. the Clinton wing will swing into full triangulation mode even if it costs the Democrats more seats in the mid-term election.
Iraq will see a major offensive against the terrorists so for a short time it might appear that the situation has gotten even worse, but in the long run (2 months or so) the terrorist element will be all but crushed and the elections will be pulled off there just like they were in Afganistan.
More pressure will be put on North Korea, Iran. Syria will continue to open up with more information on terrorist issues, Iraq's WMD programs, and a relaxation of tensions with Isreal and the US.
The biggest losers in the world will continue to be the Palestinians, who will continue to be ground into oblivion by terrorists who claim to have their interests at heart. The extreeme radicals who have been allowed to fester in Palestinian society all during Arafat's reign will not leave peacefully after Arafats death, and the Palestinian people will be caught once again in the middle.
In otherwords, I don't think much will change.
