You need to separate your thinking about our real over dependence on gasoline from your thinking on climate - we don't know enough to implicate CO2 as the culprit, and there is good reason to think otherwise.

If we go after CO2, we'll not likely have enough money left to end our dependence on gasoline.

This is not trivial pocket change that's being proposed, and a lot of people's jobs and livelyhoods will suffer, perhaps on entirely mistaken grounds - we may end up "fixing" something that is not causing the problem.
