Maps
This blog has links to both. I overlapped them on Photoshop, looking for purple. There wasn't a hell of a lot of it. Things haven't changed much since 2000.
It has been reasonably pointed out that the "winner take all" mapping is somewhat misleading, and this is true.
A "purple map" showing a mixture of colors may be more appropriate. One such map for 2000 on a statewide level (I can't vouch for accuracy) is seen below.
Wow. Pretty monotonous, isn't it? Maybe the nation isn't as divided as some people say it is.
