As a physics student, I spent a few hours in the machine shop crafting any number of gizmos for on of my crazy bosses. The shop supervisor would be awefully pissed if you don't clean up after yourself. Rule #1, no compressed air for cleaning! It blows debris into all sorts of places on the machines that debris ought not de-bee.
Ever read any A.C. Clarke? Ghost of the Grand Banks specifically. Those who have may recognize this notion. All the rovers need are a sheet of mylar draped over the cells which (somehow) could be shaken at a suitable frequency to clear the dust periodically.
