And respond with what is obviously a joke, and finish it with a wish - sincere by the way - and that is wicked?
I have been wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving lately, and think I should continue. I have made a point of wishing it to those here I disagree with, to remind myself as well as them that HZ world is not THE world.
Whatever fights we are having here, they are here. The larger world spins on, and our lives (hopefully for all of us) progress as well. I have noticed that here in our HZ world, while we tend to talk about the world, we tend to forget we live in it. I am at least as guilty of that as anyone. Everyone here I bet, even (possibly especially) those who I disagree with most strongly, have family and friends and jobs they care about deeply totally outside of anything discussed in HZ world. My intention is to honor and respect that.
Because of work demands, I am unable to be with a large family reunion we are having this year. Instead, I am having Thanksgiving with a couple in our neighborhood whom we are firends with. He is an artist and professor of art, and we disagree on the current politics as much as you can imagine. He and his wife are dear friends, we enjoy each other's company and get along well. Somehow that does not translate very often into HZ world.
This has been a difficult year professionally, and my nuclear family has had some tough times. Yet as I look to Thanksgiving I am finding much to be thankful for. My children are doing well. My wife, after 21 years, is even more wonderful. My nuclear family is settled down and beginning to do well. My work is doing well. When I compare and contrast that with the sturm and drang here all too often, I realize that it is very likely that all of us have many things in our lives to be thankful for, whatever the condition or position we find ourseoves in politically.
So without insult, and in all respect, I wish everyone here a Happy Thanksgiving.
I wish you one as well.

I am falsely accused of being drunk, but I think the frame of the accusation was funny
