T--"Energy from U-235
Pollution? What pollution?"
J--You should read about the Chernobyl and Three Mile Island nuclear leaks that are only two among thousands.
T--"Dont confuse radioactive waste with CO2...."
J --No confusion here, I believe that radioactive "waste" spread into the atmosphere is far more dangerous than CO2.
T--"U235 is U235, dont matter how you make it. "
J--If the end result is a different isotope then the "potential energy" of the atoms will be different, if the potential energy is different then the converted "kinetic energy" will also be different.
T--"I think you need a little more chemistry learning.
J-- Everyone can use more "learning".
T--"Are you saying that if "about 1.02 x 1011 Mwh/year" of energy is accumulated into the atmosphere over the time of a million years then the Earth will be twice as hot as it is today?"
now you're being silly. "
J--Perhaps
T--"Question - where do you think the 3.372*10e24MWH/year goes.....?
J-- Don't confuse radiation with radioactivity.
The "radiation" from the sun affects only the outer electrons of matter, that energy is re-radiated outward and eventually disappears into space.
The "radioactivity" that is induced in nuclear chain reaction "remains" on Earth and continues to exert its influence for thousands of years.
T--"14psi.
Total pressure earth receives from atmosphere = 14 psi
Outward pressure if atmosphere taken away is nonsensical.
If you take 14psi away, the earth can expand to adjust.
J--Terrestrial Atmosphere
Surface pressure: 1014 mb
Total mass of atmosphere: 5.1 x 10e18 kg
Source: http://nssdc.gsfc.nasa.gov/planetary/factsheet/earthfact.html
Question: What is the quantity of the pressure within the Earth that is exerted towards the atmosphere?
T--Try this calculation to see how ludicrously small this amount is -
find the depth of a 1 sq. in column of rock that would weigh 14 lbs.
Assume rock density is 3 g/cm3 and convert to imperial.
Rough guesstimate - about 10 feet.
Compare to diameter of earth.
Are you saying that if I removed the atmosphere from around the Earth, the Earth's crust would lift up by ten feet?
T--If you dig a 10 feet hole are you going to trigger an earthquake?
J--The ten foot deep hole would have to be large enough to cover every square inch of the Earth's surface. That would certainly be a load off the planet. Would the planet tremble? I do not know, I would rather not dig such a hole, also I would rather keep the atmosphere where it is by not polluting it with radioactivity.

- I don't buy that explanation at all. It is riddled with errors.
