Landing at Aitken
Will we see a landing on the South Pole Aitken Moon crater around 2010 ? That would truly be great!
But isn't SPA more on the farside (even completely)? Well, depending on where the landing takes place, the Earth could (thanks to the librations) appear above and disappear below the horizon...
However, (and this seems a great idea), geostationnary communication satellites (yes, those at 36,000 km from Earth's equator) , could very well be used to relay communications from Lunar farside, provided the landing site isn't too deep behind Lunar nearside.....
(I wonder how far and how long a manned moonbus could go in farside and still remain in touch with Earth, without the need for satellites at EML4 or L5, but only GEO).
