LOL! I like the one about the "anonymously donated book".

An alternative: "Please check this book out of your library, submit it for analysis to any science department of your state's university system, and, analysis in hand, challenge this book in accordance with library policy. Make sure to take your challenge to the formal hearing stage, and invite the press. Do not press to have the book withdrawn, but rather, to have it reclassified as 'Religion'."

They had a rubber stamp made for our middle school life science books. In the spot where the student is supposed to note the condition of the book and sign next to the note, I noted the defacement on the inside front endpaper and on page whateveritwas, and used some library-grade labels that will only come off with razor blades to cover the stamped message.

Whether they stamped over the labels after my kids were finished with the books, I don't know. We'd had a regime change by then.
