You don't have to be a Communist-sympathizer, a socialist, or even any type of 'leftist', to acknowledge Gorbachev's role. You just have to be an unbiased observer. I for one have not denied Reagan's importance as well. But from your language and context, you don't sound like much of an impartial observer yourself, if you don't give credit where it's due.
