Some comments and questions
Relation to the protective shell impact site:
The old tracks may allows us to "factor" out (at least partially) te effect of weathering at the protective shell inmpact site. I wonder how much detail will be already lost to this kind of weathering!?
Unfortunatelly I don't expect anylonger to see this type of "moist", disturbed, soil at the shell impact site ...By the way. It would make any difference to the dry wind hypothesis that the disturbed soil (to be weathered) is in a hole..., or inside a crater...?
I also would like to compare the degree of weathering of the tracks at both sites.
Moist versus Dry:
The "moist" look to the underneath fresh soil is also lost... which brings me to the question of whether this change in color points to stuff that it is really "moist" or what?
Contiguous Areas to the Tracks:
Also following the logic of this dry wind hypothesis it would be fair to assume that the areas contiguos to the track were unchanged, compared to the disturbed tracks, because they were allready weathered to a point of "stability" (few loose grains, a protective coat of spherules was still in place, not sharp edges, everything flat and round ...).
Space/Science » in reply to Wind and dry dust...
Makes sense...therefore the protective shell site should be pretty weathered by now ..
