Shoo-Roo

A lot of people swear by the Shoo-Roo ultrasonic deterant which makes a high-pitched noise that lets the roos know you're coming - most times. In a lot of problem areas too just clearing a bit more brush back from the road seems to give the roos enough vision to stay out of your way. Often they're springing through the brush and don't notice the road before the splat...

But night times are the worst - sometimes they're up and about and on a dark road neither of you have enough warning. I almost overturned my old Corona by going over a carcass one evening. Not fun, nor healthy for the suspension.

As for "tourists" that quite good reality show "The Amazing Race" came to Brisbane a season or two back, abseilled down the building where I work, then promptly raced off north to visit Steve Irwin's place at Beerwah [an Aboriginal name, not a brewer's self-promotion], then Cairns. A whole lot of Queensland was left out in between... *sigh*
