Space/Science » in reply to Very young galaxies

re: Well now

This leads to fundamental questions about the nature of the Universe, doesn't it?

If current models are correct, there should be no (or very few) galaxies forming now, and none in our neck of the woods. All that exists was supposed to come from the initial few hundred million years after the BB.

But now, with the discovery of nearby galaxies-in-formation, a whole raft of questions arise, most fundamentally what is a galaxy, anyway? And how can they form as the Universe flies apart?

Let's see what else the Galex finds! Always fascinating!

Cheers, BR
