Your garden variety cosmic ray is an electron stripped iron nuceus spat from a supernova. Cosmic rays are typically going a gnat's whisker less than the speed of light. The Andromeda Galaxy is 2.9 million light years away. However a clock on a cosmic ray travelling from Andromeda to our world might only experience 30 seconds. Funky stuff!!!
