Thanks for the advice :)

The original photo was itself an advertisement for the program, one in which a therapy dog and his trainer come in to listen to children read to the dog. The kids in the photo are gathered around the dog, and one little boy is reading Rich Cat, Poor Cat to him. I don't include the names of the kids on the poster, though the dog's name is prominent. 8) We also don't use them as flyers for broad distribution, but only as in-house ads letting people know the dates for the program during the current month.

The parents know about the photo's appearance, and have no problem with it, though this use wasn't brought up (or thought of) at the original photo shoot. But because the kids appeared in the newspaper, I didn't have to get explicit permission, which was the tie-in with this thread (as you know).

I do agree that the SEALs' attorney, James Huston, has a point when he says, in the original story linked to by Phil,

"There was no need for the AP to publish the faces of the SEALs[.]" . . . "They added nothing to the value of the story. . . ."

But I wonder if the incident would have been investigated if the names and faces hadn't been included.
