There were no UN inpsectors on the ground for a long time and the UN did nothing. The only reason they were allowed back in was the threat of force projected by the US and UK. The inspectors were being blocked again in yet another round of Saddam testing the UN's nonexistent will and yet some people think they were going to be allowed to stay and do their job completely if we only played nice. This includes the moronic former head of inpsectors who made such claims despite acknowledging a lack of cooperation. It is an extremely stupid stance. Such well intended stupidity has repeatedly cost lives. When I was in school we were taught the world would never forget the lesson's of Hitler. It's quite obvious most of the world has. There isn't always a choice that doesn't cost lives.
