LOL when your boy said, "action and results, not rhetoric and intentions are what matter." I couldn't wait to have him follow it up with "Mission Accomplished." Preznit Bush has given us inappropriate actions with negative results. The only hope for this nation is that enough time applied to Republican miscues will salve them over.
And when he talked about inaction often being calculated, selfish and far more lethal to millions than risky intervention he might well have substituted the calculated Republican administration deaf ear turned to Hungary after (at our urging) drove the Soviets out of their country with pitchforks while we waited to see them come back with tanks. When Eisenhower got the plea from Hungary he went to Augusta, Ga. to play golf until the Soviets re-invaded.
And the line about the old idea of the UN was inspiring, but currently chilling had me ROTFLOL. The right has been railing against the UN from the get go. The John Birch Society had billboards in my area up that proclaimed, "Get the US our of the UN."
Face it, Republicans are relentless. They will not be happy until Social Security is destroyed, public schools are eliminated and the Post Office is privatized.
No Tom, the Democrats don't need your advice. We need to better organize to prevent corporate interests from driving out all small business and taking all dignity and sense of security away from the working man. We need to settle on one candidate and promote him instead of shooting ourselves in the foot with our primaries.
Will any of this happen? I hope so.
