I found a nice discussion about the frost here, of all places. :)
I would like to know more about the Tipuna slab. It looks very similar in composition from the rest of the bedrocks in the Meridiani area, but the texture is very different, esp. in areas where it 'cracked' and came apart. Some edges have these spikes that look like they were exposed to heat, melted and when cooled, left 'frozen' spikes. Link.
